Zero effort: the hotel courtyard

The pergola tables beside our pool face the evening show, and the hot tub at dusk, drink within reach, is the least-kept secret among returning guests.

Low effort: the lakefront

Gyro Beach and the lakeside walkways serve the classic water-mirror sunset, colours above, colours below. Bring a blanket in shoulder season; summer evenings need nothing.

Moderate effort: sẁiẁs (Haynes Point)

The sandspit's near-360 water views make it the photographer's choice, with the desert hills burning orange on both shores.

Full effort, full reward: Anarchist Lookout
