Osoyoos in summer: beat the heat like a local

Osoyoos in summer: beat the heat like a local - Park Inn by Radisson Osoyoos

Summer is what Osoyoos was built for: reliably 30-something degrees, a lake at bath temperature, and evenings that stay patio-warm past sunset. It's glorious, and it rewards a little local strategy.

The local rhythm

Do active things early, beach walks, hikes, golf, market runs, before 11 AM. Spend the peak heat in the water (lake or pool), in a tasting room, or under our pergola with a book. Re-emerge after 4 PM when the light turns golden and the town comes back to life.

Summer's greatest hits

Canada Day's Cherry Fiesta, beach days at Gyro, boat afternoons, fruit stands sagging with cherries and peaches, and sunset at Anarchist Lookout. Wineries buzz, book tastings and dinner patios ahead.

Heat wisdom

Water bottle always, sunscreen aggressively, park in shade when you can, and remember every room here has air conditioning cranked and a fridge for cold drinks.

Book early, seriously

July and August are the Okanagan's peak; rooms, especially our family three-queen, sell out well ahead. When you find your dates, lock them.
