Osoyoos in spring: blossoms, birdwatching & early sunshine

Osoyoos in spring: blossoms, birdwatching & early sunshine - Park Inn by Radisson Osoyoos

Spring reaches Osoyoos before almost anywhere else in Canada. While the rest of the country negotiates with March, the desert valley is already green-gold, the orchards are gearing up to bloom, and patio season makes its first confident appearance.

Blossom season

From April into May, the valley's orchards, cherry, peach, apricot, erupt in pink and white waves against the desert hills. The drive north toward Oliver becomes a blossom tour; bring the camera.

The desert wakes up

Spring is peak season for the antelope-brush ecosystem: wildflowers like arrowleaf balsamroot paint the slopes, migratory birds pour through, and the Desert Centre boardwalk reopens with the year's best wildlife activity. Hikers get the trails in perfect temperatures.

Golf & wine, early edition

Courses open weeks before most of BC's, and tasting rooms shake off winter with new-vintage releases and zero crowds.

Spring strategy

Shoulder-season rates, easy bookings, and days warm enough for everything except perhaps the lake, which is exactly why the hot tub exists. Spring is the planner's reward for beating summer to the valley.
