Cycling the International Hike & Bike Trail

Cycling the International Hike & Bike Trail - Park Inn by Radisson Osoyoos

The International Hike & Bike Trail follows the Okanagan River channel between the Osoyoos area and Oliver, a mostly flat, paved-and-packed route through vineyards, orchards, and riparian desert, with mountains standing guard on both sides.

Why cyclists love it

It's car-free, gentle, and honest about its rewards: about 18 kilometres of easy riding one way, with wineries and fruit stands conveniently littering the route. This is cycling as touring, not training.

The winery-stop strategy

Ride north in the cool morning, lunch and taste (moderately) around Oliver's Golden Mile Bench, then cruise back south with the afternoon at your back. Several wineries sit within a short detour of the trail.

Practicalities

Bike rentals are available seasonally in Osoyoos and Oliver. Carry water and sunscreen; shade is scarce and the desert sun is sincere. Spring and fall are the sweet-spot seasons; in July and August, ride early.

Staying with us, you can rinse off in the pool, throw jerseys in the guest laundry, and celebrate the ride from the BBQ deck. Free breakfast fuels the start line.
