Crossing the US border at Osoyoos: what to know

One of Osoyoos's quiet conveniences: the Osoyoos/Oroville border crossing sits just five minutes south of town, making a Washington State day trip, or a cross-border arrival, genuinely easy.

The crossing

The Osoyoos (CAN) / Oroville (US) port on Highway 97 is a full-service crossing handling passenger vehicles year-round. It's typically far calmer than the Lower Mainland crossings, midweek waits are often minutes, though summer weekends and holiday Mondays can back up. Check current wait times before you roll.

Documents

Passports (or equivalent accepted documents) for everyone in the vehicle, including kids. Know the duty-free limits both directions, and declare honestly, produce, alcohol, and firearms rules differ sharply between the two countries.

Day-trip ideas south

Oroville's lakeside parks, the orchards of the Okanogan Valley (one "a", American spelling), and Lake Osoyoos's southern shores make an easy loop. Golfers and anglers both find worthy detours within an hour.

For US visitors northbound
